"Julie and Julia" is kind of a double movie. One movie is about Julia Child, foodie extraordinaire, and the other is the story of a young woman (Julie) who sets herself on a mission to cook all 500-plus recipes in Julia's breakthrough French cuisine cookbook in the space of one year, and blog about it daily.
I liked the movie about Julia. Meryl Streep was great, and so was the guy who played her husband.
The other movie was not very interesting, mainly because I don't have any patience with young people who are as dumb as I was at that age.
Do the two stories balance each other out? Yeah, I guess so. But I think the whole movie should just be Julia. Maybe you can fast-forward through the other stupidness.

Debbi!!! thanks for the xmas card, glad you think santa approves of me even though I'm unemployed now. And you're back at the PPH?? Too bad you didn't manage a return to SLC with your family before going back to the trenches. It's not too late to plan a summer vacation though...
ReplyDeleteI realize I'm supposed to comment on this blog instead of writing you a letter here but too bad. Your writing, which always makes me glad you're my friend, reeks of freedom. Go ahead and blog about how this blogger Julie is stupid (even though she made a gachillion dollars). I confess to limp envy that she went from whining about wanting to be a writer to being a bestseller in about one year. I'm trying to decide whether to read her just-released new book, which is about her steamy affair while learning the butchering trade. What a combo.
Give me a call some time -- I'm home A LOT -- or connect with Mark via facebook. love, d
